Types of Conference Workshops
First, the primary focus and usage of the CHSR Fund research convening outcomes is to improve health and wellness through community collaboration that further seek to:
- Develop novel, creative and/or ingenious health services practices through research and approaches that contribute to learning;
- Create health and wellness practices and approaches through a community informed process that are representative of the communities to be served, especially unserved, underserved and inappropriately served communities; and
- Create new health practices and approaches that can be replicated and adapted to other populations and other counties if proven successful with specific populations.
Second, in collaboration with our partners, the CHSR Fund outcomes will synthesize lessons learned from the conference to identify challenges within public health services, obesity prevention and control.
In addition the CHSR Fund will identify appropriate policy and environmental strategies to overcome these challenges and determine indicators of progress in implementing these strategies, and then disseminate policy and environmental best practices to the communities: locally and nationally!
Third, the CHSR Fund annual two-day workshop/conference include but not limited to:
- Research development - will consist of workshops where issues or challenges in the practice and delivery of health care are defined and a research agenda or strategy for studying them is developed.
- Research design and methodology - will consist of workshops where methodological and technical issues of major importance to the field of health services research are addressed or new designs and methodologies are developed.
- Dissemination and implementation - will consist of poster presentations and lecture series, where research findings and evidence-based information and tools are summarized, communicated and used by organizations and individuals that have the capability to use the information to improve the outcomes, quality, access to, and cost and utilization of health care services.
- Research training, infrastructure and career development - will consist of workshops where professionals in the field, the public, faculty, trainees and students are brought together with stakeholders to develop, share or disseminate research products, experiences, curricula, syllabi, or training competencies. The CHSR Fund is especially interested in presenting these conferences to the community so that consulting and Technology companies can show and disseminate complimentary conference materials and products beyond the participants attending the event.
More importantly, such strategies might include, but are not limited to, submitting articles for publication, posting information on our Web site for low-income citizens, and seeking formal opportunities to discuss conference information with others.
- Poster and Plenary and concurrent sessions - will focus on strategies implemented in these settings that lead to policy and environmental changes, which may improve population-level health. A key feature of the conference is a move from didactic presentations to an emphasis on interactive discussion between plenary and concurrent session panelists, and the audience.
Plenary sessions will present case studies on the use of policy and environmental strategies within certain settings (e.g., workplaces) and sectors (e.g., law or economics) while concurrent sessions will discuss specific issues within the setting context (e.g., strategies to leverage built-environment initiatives to increase physical activity in workplaces).
