In 2011, the Foundation launched the Center for Health Services Research (CHSR) Fund, to assist low-income communities impacted by: (1) ethnic health care inequity; (2) high rates of obesity; and (3) low rates of integrated health care. The CHSR Fund was established as an outcome of the historic health reform legislation signed into law on March 23, 2010.
The Affordable Care Act encourages smaller learning communities, such as the CHSR Fund, to establish accessible outreach programs to advance research projects that provide essential information for health care decision-making. The CHSR Fund annual two day research convening workshop -conference project on health and wellness produce discussions, lecture series, plenary sessions, individual papers and poster presentations, among University and non-university based research and policy organizations, professional societies/trade associations, Government agencies, Foundations, Publishers, Consulting firms (research and policy-related) and Technology companies.
The CHSR Fund mission is to conduct annual community out reach projects designed to improve the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of health care for all Americans. That mission is accomplshed by supporting, conducting and disseminating research that improves the effectiveness, quality, access to, cost, and use of these health care services.
To that end the CHSR Fund works to enhance patients’ access to care while entering into active partnerships with those who use the research to ensure that it is translated into measurable improvements and outcomes. It is our mission to work with those in public health and health care to prepare leaders, design solutions, and conduct innovative research that is translated into practice and policy.
The CHSR Fund envisions a future where systems effectively, efficiently, and equitably promote the health of all populations.
