JBead Foundation is a community
development effort that arise from the will of a group
of committed citizens who want to see others achieve
their life goals. This community effort evolves from
a group that believes in equal
access, freedom to make individual choices,
and the capacity of human beings to achieve both. The
Foundation arises within community psychology, a discipline
with a sense of urgency and a belief in change.
The emergence of JBead Foundation is couched in a social
systems model that seeks to assist young professional
students, regardless of cultural heritage, to adopt
the "empowerment" construct to facilitate their educational
advancement and skills development through higher
education.
As you know, we live in an information
processing/technology driven age. Therefore,
one of our priorities is to increase the Foundation's
capacity to aggregate and disseminate information that
informs, connects, and educates the communities we serve
and those supportive of our mission. These are just
a few reasons why JBead Foundation is focused on the
fundamentals of capacity building that will guide us
forward.
Our efforts are focused on harnessing the resources
and the collective power of national, regional, and
local organizations interested in removing financial
barriers facing young professionals from diverse backgrounds
who enter institutions of higher learning. It is our
intent to partner with organizations,
corporations, educational_institutions, educational institutions, congress
and assembly members to produce programmatic
initiatives to "level the playing field" for students
who lack
financial assistance in higher education .
